September is the month of Thailand’s National Flag Day. When the red, white and blue tricolor flag is flying, “Elephant Guardian Week” is held in various parts of Thailand. This special intersection of time and space allows national symbols and national spirit to form a wonderful resonance in the long river of history. The red color of the Thai flag symbolizes blood and land, the white represents pure faith, and the blue is like deep wisdom. The “white elephant” engraved on the elephant medal is not only an auspicious totem in Thai culture, but also a concrete embodiment of strength and perseverance. When athletes wear elephant emblem medals in international competitions, they carry the expectations of the entire nation – to walk steadily like elephants, and to remain elegant even when stuck in the mud. Just as the elephant uses its huge body to protect its cubs from wind and rain, the three-color stripes of the national flag are also silently telling the survival philosophy of unity and symbiosis. When the athletes kissed their medals, the elephant totem and the colors of the national flag shone together in the sun. This is not only a crowning of personal glory, but also a materialization of the spirit of the entire nation – sticking to the cultural genes in the tide of globalization and protecting the spiritual homeland with the tenacity of elephants. Every Thai is the weaver of the tricolor flag and the inheritor of the elephant spirit. Let us carry this double spiritual medal and continue to move forward in the arena of the times.
